Like many of you, this week we will be celebrating Christmas. We love this time of year as a family for several reasons. We are part of a big, amazing family that loves being together. Whether you will be with a huge extended family, a few relatives, just your immediate family, or even a few friends who are like family, we pray that you feel all the love and warmth that we all need this time of year.
Several times this week we will be getting together with each side of our families for extended family parties. Here are some of the highlights. First it’s Christmas Eve at Tim’s parents’ house. We start with brunch and stay the rest of the day. After brunch we exchange gifts. The menu for the evening is all kinds of appetizers and finger foods. Everyone just enjoys being together and having a relaxing day. The kids play with their cousins and new toys.
Christmas morning we just have our little TRAIL FAMILY at the house to enjoy presents and of course stockings. We don’t go overboard on gifts, because we want our kids to understand thankfulness and contentment. Christmas Day is brunch and gift exchange at Shannon’s parents’ house.

We also love celebrating the spiritual meaning of Christmas with our church and lighting the Advent Candles each week as we anticipate the coming of Jesus. We also read Luke Chapter 2 with our children on Christmas morning before we open gifts. There are many traditions surrounding the religious celebration of Christmas. We hope that all of you who participate in these traditions find the peace of Christ as you worship.

We know that not everyone celebrates Christmas. Whichever holiday you celebrate this time of year we send warm wishes to you and your family.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Tim, Shannon, Jocelyn, Alexis, and Calvin
